I don't know if you take questions, but I don't really have anywhere else to turn to.. I'm a girl and my boyfriend is FTM transgender. For me it doesn't matter because I'm bi, but I see him as a boy and I think he is beautiful. So I wonder.. how can you be close to an FTM sexually..? How do you make love to someone who hate's his own body... We've been together for a while now and I really love him and I want to show him how beautiful I think he is, even if he don't think so..

I often find it hard to answer questions like these. The only thing I can say is give it time. Everything gets better with time. I have friends who are FTM and I often find that they are exactly like this with their partners, it’s the idea that they hate the body they were born in. Another thing is that often when men are born in a female body getting top surgery makes them feel a hell of a lot more confident in their body. But for now just give it time. He’ll learn to love himself the way he loves you.

America Censors Gay Anime

GLBT characters have been featured in many anime TV shows you may have seen as a kid. Even popular titles like Sailor Moon, Dragonball, Dragonball Z, YuYu Hakusho, and InuYasha.

But before hitting the U.S. many of the “gay themes” are switched to subtle hints or completely erased.

Sailor Moon - Most noted is the fact that Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune were a lesbian couple in the Japanese version but referred to as cousins in the translation (1). There are also a lot of transgender themes where in the “Sailor Starlights” are male in human form but transform into female versions (2)(3). The villains Kunzite and Zoisite (4) were originally both male and in a relationship but Zoisite was changed to female in the US version. They did this again with the character Fish-Eye (5) who was both a gay man and transvestite.

Dragon Ball - General Blue from the Red Ribbon Army (6) was openly gay but all signs were removed. He’s still openly feminine.

Dragon Ball Z - Otokusuki (7) is openly gay and fights Trunks whom he also has a crush on.

YuYu Hakusho - Miyuki (8) is a male-bodied character with what are suggested to be fake breasts. In the US version she is entirely female and her “coming out” was censored. Shizuru Kuwabara (9), Kazuma’s older sister has been listed on Yuricon’s list of lesbians.

InuYasha - Jokatsu (10) is openly gay and frequently flirts with InuYasha.

Can you link to the episode about mystique being bisexual?

I don’t actually have a specific link offhand. But it’s more apparent in the live-action films than in the animated series. In the animated version it’s just multiple suggestions through various episodes. It’s the same in the comic books. In the comics they suggest that her one true love was a woman.

I’m going to do some research again and see if I can conjure up the exact episodes/comics.
